As a Communications Student Worker for the Division of Graduate Studies at UO, I develop and execute social media campaigns that promote events, celebrate student achievements, and enhance community engagement. My work includes content creation, copywriting, graphic design, and post scheduling for Instagram and LinkedIn, all while ensuring alignment with UO brand guidelines. I also provide photography and videography support to capture key moments at Division events.

Video Event Promotion
I promoted the University of Oregon’s Graduate Research Forum through a series of Instagram Reels designed to build interest and engagement leading up to the event. The content included short interviews with staff, a recap video featuring dynamic clips from the event, and a promotional Reel that showcased past forum photos while introducing key research topics. Each video was crafted to highlight the forum’s impact, spotlight the people behind it, and make the event feel accessible and exciting to a broad audience.
Other Event Promotion
I designed and produced digital event graphics to promote a range of graduate student events, including webinars, workshops, and community programs. Each graphic was tailored to reflect the tone and purpose of the event — whether it was an academic workshop like or a community-building event.

Student Spotlights
I design and produce spotlight features that showcase the achievements, experiences, and stories of students and faculty at the University of Oregon. These posts combine compelling visuals with personal quotes and project highlights to humanize academic accomplishments and foster a stronger sense of community. Whether celebrating international collaborations, scholarship recipients, or faculty mentorship, each spotlight is crafted to engage audiences across digital platforms and support outreach, recruitment, and recognition efforts.

Ethan conducts field research in the HJ Andrews Experimental Forest, where he’s exploring how mycorrhizal fungi—microscopic root-associated organisms—can help native plant communities resist invasive species after wildfire events. His work supports the development of science-based strategies to enhance ecosystem resilience in post-fire landscapes.
Blending ecological theory with practical application, Ethan’s research plays a vital role in the evolving conversation around wildfire recovery, land stewardship, and the future of fire-adapted ecosystems.

Thanks to the support of the David S. Easly Scholarship, Ethan was able to fund essential research supplies, transportation to field sites, and the opportunity to present his preliminary findings at a scientific conference.

Girls’ Science Adventure Recaps
The Women in Graduate Sciences group leads a free outreach program, Girls’ Science Adventures, in collaboration with the Eugene Science center. The goal is to get young children excited about science and encourage their curiosity in the world around them. After each workshop, I used photos to create an event recap.
